BlogRush Gives You Traffic If You Already Have Traffic

This is the conclusion I have come to concerning BlogRush. If you are already getting tons of hits, like JohnChow or Shoemoney, both of whom have recently posted topics about BlogRush, then the BlogRush widget works for you. John Chow is getting something around a .35% CTR with BlogRush. That's not great, but it's not horrible either. I think the main reason BlogRush works for big blogs that are already receiving traffic is name recognition.

Since the BlogRush widget shows the title of the post and the blog the post is from on the widget, those blogs that are already well-known, like JohnChow.com or Shoemoney, are much more likely to get a hit from the widget than John Q. Public's blog. I know that seems to be the case for me.

Some argue that it's the catchy headlines and maybe it is, but I don't think that my headlines have been any less catchy and interesting than some of the bigger blogs out there. Despite that fact, for the history of running the BlogRush widget on my site my posts were syndicated a total of 37843 times. Out of those, I've received 10 hits from the widget. That's a CTR of 0.026%. And that is also exactly why you'll notice that the widget is no longer on my blog.

That's the other thing about having a popular blog. John Chow and Shoemoney, both, I'm sure, could take the widget off their site and never use it again and still get the same kind of traffic they are getting now. John Chow reported he has over 10 million credits in the system. If he stopped earning credits entirely, that's still enough to syndicate his posts for years. Having a really popular blog has meant being able to advertise this system and get thousands of affiliates. All of their affiliates' traffic is what is really powering their own BlogRush traffic.

Those are my conclusions on this little experiment. Have any of you had any success with BlogRush?

Hey Zybron, I saw your post in BZ. Nice analysis on Blogrush with a different twist.

I had good experience with BlogRush before, until the traffic and CTR went down remarkably. I had posted my blogrush review in my blog and we had a pretty good discussion there, too.

The weird thing is, after I posted that review, blogrush censored that said post! It was really interesting so I posted another review that was also blocked. However, the post in between them was sent across the network.

So to answer your question, I'm thankful to BlogRush for sending me few loyal readers, but it doesn't fit my long-term plan so i'm taking it out by the end of the month.

PS. You can see my BlogRush submission on BZ under the "Published Posts" section. ;)

I think maybe they filter out any post with BlogRush in it. So, they don't publish positive, negative, or anything else BlogRush related on the widget. I wouldn't be surprised if they filtered out posts regarding other topics as well. I haven't really noticed any of my posts being filtered before, but I'll see if this one is syndicated. I doubt it will be.

I found the more traffic I had, the less they sent. So G'bye BlogRush.

I was excited about BlogRush when it was launched, then one of my blogs was removed from the system, then I looked at the traffic I am getting from the widget and it is not impressive. If it did not have John Reese's name behind it I would not be still holding out hoping for it to come around and drive the traffic as prommised

Two days into Blogging Zoom and I'm already getting more traffic than I did with a month of BlogRush!

Yeah, this post wasn't syndicated through the widget, much like I thought it would not. With just a single submitted post to BloggingZoom, I had more traffic than two full months from BlogRush.

I use BlogRush on one of my Blogs and it's certainly not the best method of generating traffic but I'm satisfied with it. The price is right! But I just started another Blog recently and once I had twenty or so posts I submitted it to BlogRush. A few days later I received a rejection email stating there wasn't enough content. I was a little disappointed because it would take just a glance to see that I was posting at least five times a day and the Blog was brand new. Nothing to cry about but after reading this post it does make me wonder.

Overall, as far as BlogRush, I can take it or leave it. I think we can do much better with sites such as MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog etc.. The community based sites offer much more than traffic, they offer the possibility of online business relationships.
